Object history note The 'Flamingo' side table was designed for Memphis in 1983 and featured in the 1984 collection of the company. It is one of a series of four side tables which use similar elements, colours and surface decoration in different configurations. The other three tables are: 'Kristall', 'Continental' and 'Polar'. The product names are taken from luxury hotels, bars, restaurants, as was common with early Memphis objects. Historical context note De Lucchi was a close associate of Ettore Sottsass. His work displays similar interest in colour, surface decoration and in creating objects that provoke emotional responses.
