A set of digital camera and its add-on peripherals was designed for Panasonic in 2001. The digital camera technology allowed for so much design freedom in contrast with the conventional 35mm film cameras and most designs went for integration of multiple functions in a small package that sometimes required performance compromise. Drawing inspirations from classic Leica cameras, this set took the opposite modular approach and contains a simple minimalist camera unit accompanied by separate add-on equipment such as flashbulb, large display, and high quality optical viewfinder. Although not yet produced in mass quantities, the Panasonic Digital Camera has been featured in AXIS magazine for its intriguing unique design.
