This first-ever electronic musical instrument was created in 1918 by the Russian inventor Lev Sergeevich Termen. The method of playing termenvox is based on varying the distance between the performer’s hands and the instruments’ antennas. The vertical straight antenna is responsible for the pitch of the sound, and the horizontal U-shaped antenna, for the volume.
