KVN-49 TV receiver with a lens. 
One of the first mass-produced serial Soviet TV sets. It was developed in the Leningrad TV R&D 
Institute in 1947, and the serial production was started in 1949. The name means the first letters of 
the inventors’ names: Kenigson, Varshavsky, and Nikolayevsky. The size of the image displayed on 
the kinescope screen was 105×140 mm. To increase the image size, the manufacturer supplied an 
adapter being a water-filled lens.
