The mechanical device for demonstration of images was invented by Paul Nipkow in 1884. Nipkow disk 
was an integral part of many systems of mechanical television up to the 1930s. A serious drawback was 
the small size of the image. To reproduce a mailstamp-size image, a disk 30-40 cm in diameter was 
used.
